1965 Porsche 911 SWB Coupe Racing Car

1965 Porsche 911 SWB Coupe Racing Car

Seller's description

This Porsche 911 originates from the sports car icon's first year of production. The Porsche was initially delivered to the U.S.A. and returned to Germany in the 90s, where it was remodeled by the authorized automotive repair shop Bienert according to Walter Röhrl's requirements. Röhrl was not the pwner of the car. It was converted to obtain a FIA pass in order to participate in vintage car races. The conversion was carried out in close cooperation with Walter Röhrl, who was in charge of the car's setting and the test drives. Its reconstruction was both time- and money consuming. Invoices and technical documentation deliver proof of the permanent and elaborate work on engine, transmission and chassis, which was executed using high-quality components made by the companies BIENERT, RUGEN (engine) and KLUGE (transmission), as well as lately from MEZGERWERK. Some € 30,000 were invested into the engine alone. The chassis was improved and modified with great effort to make it suitable for the use in races. On the one hand, door sills and axle suspensions were reinforced, on the other hand, the car's weight was permanently optimized, doors, for example, are completely made of aluminum and come from the 959. Special emphasis was put on the fact that all optimization was not only aimed at racing, but also to obtain a street permit for the 911.

Walter Röhrl, who was mainly active as representative and test driver for PORSCHE as of 1993, officially used the car in the BAVARIA CLASSIC in 1996 for the first time.
After the car had been sold to its current owner, the uncompromising race car was converted from the circuit configuration to the usage in rallies. Matthias Höing and Thorsten Hanenkamp from the company MEZGERWERK were commissioned with this task. All parts changed in the process are still at hand and come with this car. Currently the Porsche is ready to use.
What makes the idea of buying a Porsche SWB from 1965, a popular race car, so thrilling is the fact that it was not only used by FIA- and rally world champion and legend Walter Röhrl in several races, but that he also participated in its development. This 911 is a true object of desire for both fans and collectors. The Porsche was signed by Walter Röhrl. The car is accompanied by the vehicle documents, an official Walter Röhrl-DVD, showing Walter Röhrl driving the 911 and an identical limited model of the “Bienert-Röhrl 911“ in a scale of 1:40.
