1962 Porsche 356 Outlaw 'Poco Bastardo'
Seller's description
Poco Bastardo 356 Outlaw
We are delighted to offer this beautifully built 356 `Outlaw Coupe` for sale.
The concept of the car is based on the Porsche 356s that have competed successfully in the Carrera Panamericana, a highly dangerous road race across Mexico.
Porsche first named its Performance 356 `Carrera` after the event and Poco Bastardo is a nick name used to describe the 356 for its giant slaying capabilities against more powerful machinery over the years in this race.
This car has been beautifully built by 356 specialists PR services for its obsessive owner and captures the spirit of these road racers perfectly, whilst featuring some modern upgrades to make it more usable and reliable today.
The original car a 356 `B` T6 was manufactured in March 1962 and delivered to Competition Motors, Hollywood in the USA. It stayed in America until February 2000 when it was imported to Holland.
Once in Holland, it was completely stripped to an empty bare metal shell, professionally restored and painted in black cellulose finish. The Dutch owner then parked the car in his barn to concentrate on others in his collection. Here it stayed until March 2011 when spotted by the present owner.
Travelling to Holland he collected the shell, various irreplaceable glass/lenses/windows/screens and sixteen large boxes of parts necessary to complete the restoration.
In April 2011, the car was delivered to P R Services Ltd, in Billericay, Essex, for completion and returned completed to its delighted owner in April 2012.
The quality of the restoration and upgrades are excellent and all recorded in three bound books supplied with the car. This 356 doesn’t sit wrapped up in a garage though and has been used in occasional lightweight classic rallies and tours.
In 2013/2015 it competed in several such events in the UK including Tour Britannia, The Three Castles and Throckmorton Challenge to name but a few.
Since completion by P R Services Ltd., the car has been entirely reliable…...jump in, turn the key, and you are away down the road having fun! The simplicity of the engineering, and absence of complex modern electronics make this car a joy to drive.
